Services to Children and Families - The 'Core Offer'

Core Extended Services. The 5 ‘Core Offer’ areas relate to the Government’s 'Every Child Matters: Change for Children' initiative. The Government expects every school to be offering access to the core extended services by 2010. Schools will continue to offer some of these services themselves but will also be able to provide parents and families with information on where the following range of core extended services can be accessed in their local area:

• Wraparound childcare 8am - 6pm, all year round for primary schools.
• A varied range of activities including study support activities.
• Parenting and family support.
• Swift and easy access to specialist services.
• Community use of facilities including adult and family learning and ICT.

Information on what is available through all Leigh Park CIP Schools can be found on this website.

Swift and Easy Access to Specialist Services

School staff undertaking home-school link worker roles, do so in close partnership with the Children’s Services Department Locality Team for the Havant area. Through this work and the introduction of the Common Assessment Framework (CAF), which makes the referral process the same across all services and improves information sharing, it is hoped that the core extended services development will enable schools and specialist services to work more closely and effectively. It is hoped that this will help families get quicker and easier access to the specialists services they need (for example health service, speech therapy).
