Services to Children and Families - The 'Core Offer'
|
Core Extended Services. The 5 ‘Core Offer’ areas relate to the Government’s 'Every Child Matters: Change for Children' initiative. The Government expects every school to be offering access to the core extended services by 2010. Schools will continue to offer some of these services themselves but will also be able to provide parents and families with information on where the following range of core extended services can be accessed in their local area:
• Wraparound childcare 8am - 6pm, all year round for primary schools.
• A varied range of activities including study support activities.
• Parenting and family support.
• Swift and easy access to specialist services.
• Community use of facilities including adult and family learning and ICT.
Information on what is available through all Leigh Park CIP Schools can be found on this website. |

Community Use of Facilities, including Adult and Family Learning & ICT
|
Good community use is being made of school sites particularly the secondary schools and Children’s Centres. There are already a wide range of adult and family learning opportunities available across the schools with many offering access to courses and training in ICT. New links between the schools in Leigh Park and the local community are developing all the time with the Extended Services Co-ordinator for the CIP being a member of the Leigh Park Community Board. Further developments and joint projects in this area will be a key part of the work of the Community Improvement Partnership.
